Tajikistan 11 days

Day 1: Tashkent – Oybek BP – Khujand 
In the morning, transfer to the border point “Oybek”
Meet your Tajikistan guide and drive to the town of Khujand for a short city tour. Visit:
- the Museum of Archeology and Fortification
- Shaikh Muslihiddin Mosque
- the Payshanba Bazaar, the biggest bazaar in Tajikistan.
Overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 2: Khujand – Istaravshan – Saritag 
Breakfest at the hotel
In the morning drive to Saritag via Istaravshan.
On the way, visit:
- a local bazaar
- Hazrat Shah architectural complex, which consists of Hazrat Shah Mausoleum, the grave of Kusam ibn Abbas's brother
- Khudayar Valami Mausoleum
- Namazgah Mosque
Continue to Mug Teppe, one of the ancient settlements located in Istaravshan.
Lunch at local Chaihana.
Drive to guesthouse
Dinner and overnight in the guesthouse.

 

Day 3: Saritag – Iskanderkul Lake – Dushanbe
Breakfast at the hotel
drive to Iskanderkul Lake known which is known as a lake of Alexander the Great. 
Continue driving to Dushanbe.
Arrive in Dushanbe.
Overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 4: Dushanbe
Breakfest at the hotel
Start city tour in Dushanbe, the capital and the biggest city of Tajikistan.
Visit Tajikistan National Museum of Antiquities, where the famous statue of Buddha in Nirvana is preserved
Visit the Botanical garden, and the local bazaar.
Drive out of the city to the remains of Hissar Fortress 
Visit two local madrasas and a mausoleum.
Return to Dushanbe for overnight. Overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 5: Dushanbe – Kalai-Khumb
Drive to Pamir Mountains on Highway M41 via Tavildara and Khaburabad pass (or via Kulyab region).
Thr area is more conservative, but the hospitality is just as welcoming.
We drive through the Khaburabad mountain pass to Kalai-Khumb, which is located on the Panj River.
Overnight in the guesthouse.

 

Day 6: Kalai-Khumb – Khorog  
Breakfest at the hotel
Drive along the Panj River
You'll have a chance to see Afghanistan across the river.
Continue driving to Khorog, a small mountain valley town, the capital of the autonomous Gorno-Badakhshan region. The city lies 2000 m above the sea level. A few kilometers downstream, the Gunt merges with the Panj, the river that marks the border with Afghanistan.
In Khorog, visit Botanical garden and the local museum.
Overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 7: Khorog – Ishkashim 
Breakfest at the hotel
In the morning visit the famous mineral hot spring Garam Chashma.
Depart to Ishkashim, a small town at the Wakhan corridor
Continue up the north side of the river with amazing views of the Pamirs to the left and the Hindu Kush to the right
Overnight in the guesthouse.

 

Day 8: Ishkashim – Langa
Breakfest at the hotel
Drive from Ishkashim to Langar.
On the way, visit one of the old fortresses on the Silk Road Kah-Kaha in Namadgut. Continue to the Museum of Sufi Muborak-Kadami Vakhani: there's a stone pillar with a hole near his house, which he used to calculate a solar calendar, and a building with inscriptions and decorations made by the scholar.
Visit Buddhist Stupa in Vrang, sacred hot springs of Bibi Fatima Zahra, and ruins of Yamchun Fortress
Overnight at homestay.

 

Day 9: Langar – Murgab
Start the day with a trip to petroglyphs. There are more than 600 rock carvings made by prehistoric people lying under the open sky in that area.
Continue to Khargush, source of Amu Darya River.
Cross the road via pass Khargush
Pass Nayza-Tash
Arrive in Murgab.
Overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 10: Murgab – Karakul Lake
Breakfest at the hotel
Drive to Ak-Baital pass. 
The view along the road is simply breath-taking. 
This is the highest pass in the former USSR
Visit the hidden site of arid landscape is the stunning Karakul Lake created millions of years ago.
Overnight at homestay.


Day 11: Karakul Lake – Kyzylart BP 
Transfer to the border check point Kyzylart.
Cross 9 km neutral zone.
Cross the Kyrgyz border crossing point, which is at the bottom of the pass.
Meet your Kygyzstan driver and head to Osh.
Arrival in Osh.
Transfer to the hotel/guest-house
